The Microbiology Department was established in the year 1992. It has well spacious laboratories equipped with all infrastructure facilities provided to the students. Department has sophisticated instruments set ups, computers and internet facility as well as departmental library. The department is providing under graduate and Post graduate course in Microbiology. The syllabus of UG & PG course of RTM Nagpur university, covers various topics like Microbial Physiology, Industrial Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Agricultural and Environmental Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Genetic Engineering, Molecular Biology and Advance techniques in Microbiology. Students are regularly assessed by internal assessment process like Writing and Power Point Presentations of the seminar, Unit Tests and Preliminary examination to make them to face the university examinations. The Department has good collection of Text Books on Microbiology and other allied sciences. The students are regularly oriented by the visiting faculties of some renowned institutions like Central Institute of Cotton Research (CICR), National Environmental and Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), Central India Institute of Medical Sciences (CIIMS), Nagpur and Regional Centre of Organic Farming (RCOF), Govt. of India. The Department regularly organise Guest Lectures, Seminars, Workshops, On Job Training (OJT) and Competitions related to Microbiology subject to know the latest updates in the subject.

Department of Microbiology and Science Association of Sevadal Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur jointly organized Guest Lecture on the occasion of Science Day Function. An eminent Science communicator, an ardent innovative researcher who always focuses on the importance of Science communication to students and youth, Dr. (Mrs.) Asifa Qureshi, Senior Principal Scientist, Environmental Biotechnology and Genomics Division, CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur was the guest speaker. Dr. Asifa Qureshi enlightened students and the teaching staff of the college on the topic ‘Participation of Women Technocrats in The Development of Science for Nation Building’. The topic of the lecture aligned with the theme ‘Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat’ proposed by Department of Science and Technology (DST) for Science Day celebration for the year 2026.

The students were shown the motility of the bacteria through the Digital Microscope upon a screen and also they were allowed to handle the Microscopes and see bacterial cells through them at 10X,40X and 100X .
